EcoAction Yerevan: Empowering Youth for Urban Environmental Activism is a local program implemented by ECO Group Youth Environmental NGO with the support of the EVZ Foundation. The initiative aims to engage and empower young people to become active participants in preserving and improving Yerevan’s urban environment. Through educational sessions, community actions, and the use of digital tools, the program equips youth with the knowledge and skills to develop and implement sustainable urban solutions. Participants carry out surveys, awareness campaigns, and hands-on environmental interventions, fostering a new generation of environmentally conscious and proactive citizens.
Target Audience
✱ Youth aged 16–30, living in Vanadzor
✱ Young people eager to learn about freshwater pollution and sustainable water management
✱ Participants motivated to create awareness materials promoting water conservation
Partners and Donors
The program is implemented by the ECO Group” Youth Environmental NGO with the financial support of the Youth Initiatives Support Foundation. The Foundation was established by the Armenian Progressive Youth NGO and the Alternative Youth Center․

Goals
✱ To raise awareness about the importance of protecting Armenia’s freshwater resources.
✱ To educate and engage youth on issues related to freshwater pollution and environmental sustainability.
✱ To empower young people to take action through creative tools such as informative postcards and campaigns.
✱ To promote collaboration among youth organizations and communities for addressing environmental challenges.
✱ To inspire long-term behavioral change toward responsible water use and environmental conservation
Key Activities
✱ Capacity-Building Trainings – Conduct sessions on topics such as freshwater pollution, water protection, and creative environmental communication to build participants’ knowledge and skills.
✱ Field Visit – Organize a visit to a water treatment plant to provide participants with firsthand experience of how clean water is processed and maintained.
✱ Creative Postcard Workshop – Guide youth in designing informative postcards that raise awareness about freshwater pollution and promote water conservation.
✱ Awareness Campaign – Share the postcards and key messages through social media and local outreach activities to engage a wider audience.
✱ Project Documentation – Capture the campaign’s process and impact through photos, videos, and reports, highlighting results and lessons learned.
Results
✱ Young activists from Vanadzor (aged 16-30) participated in capacity-building trainings on crucial topics such as "Freshwater Pollution and Combating It in Armenia" and "How to Make Visual Creative Postcards."
✱ Participants conducted an eye-opening visit to a water treatment plant, where they observed the complex stages water undergoes before reaching consumers. This underscored the importance and complexity of maintaining clean water sources.
✱ In the second phase, participants applied their new skills to create informative postcards
✱ The collaboration between the ECO Group, the Alternative Youth Center, and the "Eco Group" NGO successfully brought together diverse groups of young people.
✱ The campaign was described as an empowering and educational experience that saw participants' efforts materialize into tangible advocacy. It is intended to motivate young people to tackle environmental issues creatively and work towards a cleaner planet.

Together, we aim to combat the pollution of Armenia’s freshwater resources and to raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation.
One of our most impactful projects is the H2O Heroes Campaign, an environmental initiative dedicated to World Water Day. This campaign is the result of a powerful collaboration between ECO Group, the Alternative Youth Center, and the “Eco Group” youth-environmental NGO. Together, we aim to combat the pollution of Armenia’s freshwater resources and to raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation.
